BoatCamp™ is a unique experience oriented toward maritime education and career development for young people.
BoatCamp™ allows youth to broaden their horizons by working on boat maintenance and restoration while also learning basic mariner, sailing, ship yard skills, and maritime etiquette.
Boat Camp activities include:
Walking Tour of the Embarcadero
Fact gathering
Educational tours
Work projects on training vessels
Rope work
Marlinspike seamanship
Sailing
Wood working skills
Rigging, mechanical repairs
Basic seamanship; Prepping, sanding, painting, cleaning, engine repair.
Electrical installation.
BoatCamp Experience Results:
Exploring a day in the life of a mariner.
Maritime career discovery with vocational and post-secondary education information.
Cooperation, teamwork, respect for the ocean and environment.
Participation in historic restoration project.
Typical Group Schedule:
Arrive 8:00 a.m.

Orientation and safety rules
Walking Tour of the Embarcadero
Groups are formed for "Lady Dee" sailing ketch.
Brief overview of sailing and nautical terminology.
Break into groups/tasks.Lunch from 11:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
